The Mediterranean Migration & Asylum Policy Hub of the European Public Law Organization concluded its Workshop on “A collaborative approach for migration policy advocacy in the Balkan region”

The Mediterranean Migration & Asylum Policy Hub of the European Public Law Organization concluded its Workshop on “A collaborative approach for migration policy advocacy in the Balkan region”. The Workshop was hosted by the District Assembly of Brčko in Bosnia & Herzegovina, on 15-16 April and brought together practitioners, academics, and civil society representatives from Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia.

The Workshop aspired to contribute to the ongoing Balkan dialogue on key aspects of migration and asylum policy along the Balkan route, to identify common challenges, best practices and pitfalls, and to provide space for reflection on areas of potential trans-Balkan collaboration.

The Workshop is the result of a collaboration between the Mediterranean Migration & Asylum Policy Hub (MedMA) and several key organizations across the Balkan region, the Macedonian Young Lawyers Association (North Macedonia), the Centre for Peace Studies (Croatia), and the Centre for Legal Aid (Bulgaria).

The workshop was initiated by the President of the Brčko District Assembly, Siniša Milić; Prof. Dr Goran Marković, Dean of the Faculty of Law University of East Sarajevo; and Dr Markos Karavias, Director of MedMA.

Human rights lawyers, academics and civil society representatives, including Aleksandra Cvetanovska, Dr Eda Gemi, Gordana Grujičić, Vasilis Kerasiotis, Diana Radoslavova, Hektor Ruci, delivered presentations on legal pathways and integration, as well as externalisation practices in the region.
