Migration Data – Cyprus

Data Repository Overview: Our Methodology at MedMA

At MedMA, data analysis underpins transparency, and transparency, in turn, paves the way for evidence-based policy recommendations.

Cyprus’ political division makes the management and analysis of asylum and migration data even more complex than in other EU member states. Information is dispersed across multiple services, ministries, and international organisations – often presented in varying formats, inconsistent terminology, or without analytical context.

To make migration and asylum data more accessible and comprehensible, MedMA consolidates publicly available data related to Cyprus and presents it through a centralised digital hub. This hub is organised into thematic sections that include explanatory notes and analytical insights, displayed in a user-friendly, interactive format designed to support public understanding. All datasets and visualisations are fully downloadable for further exploration.

While the hub does not promise access to real-time data, the visualisations will be continuously updated, depending on the frequency (monthly, quarterly, annual) and consistency of their original publication.

Data sources: MedMA primarily relies on publicly available datasets from ministries, government services, and international organisations operating in the Republic of Cyprus. Where possible, the platform also incorporates data concerning asylum and migration management in the non-government controlled areas. Eurostat datasets are included where they provide extended temporal coverage or valuable comparative context.
