The Mediterranean Migration and Asylum Policy Hub (MedMA), an agency of the European Public Law Organization, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Policy Officer to join our team in Nicosia, Cyprus.

MedMA bridges knowledge, practice, and policy to reimagine migration and asylum management in the Mediterranean. Through authoritative research, inclusive dialogue, and actionable policy recommendations, we shape sustainable solutions for migrants, host communities, and policymakers. We aspire to identify best practices or common challenges across the Mediterranean and the potential for policy diffusion across the region.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape a more inclusive and informed approach to migration and asylum policies and to engage with asylum and migration policy discussions during the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Location: Nicosia, Cyprus

Contract Type: 1 FTE, fixed term appointment (1 April 2025 to 31 July 2026)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and implement MedMA activities in Cyprus.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, including NGOs, government agencies, academic institutions, and international organizations.
  • Engage with relevant public institutions to advance program objectives and promote evidence-based policymaking.
  • Curate migration and asylum-related data sets and prepare high-quality reports, policy briefs, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and other events to facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity-building.
  • Stay updated on migration and asylum policy trends in the Mediterranean region and provide insights to inform MedMA initiatives.
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts, including drafting proposals and identifying funding opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, international relations, public policy, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in program management, policy research, or a related area, preferably in migration and asylum.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with government institutions, high-level stakeholders, or similar entities is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Cypriot and Mediterranean migration dynamics and related policy frameworks.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work in diverse teams and engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Greek or Arabic is an asset.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
